All classes will hand out 1-2 Certificates of Merit at their stage assemblies each week or fortnight.
The merits presented to students will be for students that have shown improvement and achievements within the classroom.
Once a student obtains 5 Certificates of Merit they will then be able to receive a Principal’s Award. This award will be handed out at the whole school assembly. If a student is away, the award will be handed out at the following whole school assembly.
The 5 Certificates of Merit need to be handed in a bundle to the office. They will receive their Principal’s Award at the following whole school assembly.
The table below shows what a student will receive after they obtain multiple Principal’s Awards:

The merit system will roll over each year. This means that it may take several years for a student to achieve these levels. As it will take more than a school year for these achievements, each student and their parent/carer will be responsible for tracking the collection of their Certificates of Merit, so that the student can receive the significant achievements during the duration of their schooling at Hayes Park Public School.
Students will receiveHayes Hero Tokens from staff to acknowledge individual behaviours.
